Who We Are

Newcastle Smallbore and Air Rifle Club is a not-for-profit incorporated association which promotes and participates in various disciplines of rimfire and air rifle competition shooting.

We are affiliated, through our state body, with Target Rifle Australia. Smallbore Rifle and Air Rifle are the only rifle disciplines shot at the Olympic and Paralympic Games and the Benchrest World Titles. The world bodies controlling these disciplines are the International Shooting Sport Federation (I.S.S.F.), the International Paralympic Committee (I.P.C) and the World Rimfire and Airgun Benchrest Federation (W.R.A.B.F.)

A great day of benchrest shooting was held at the NSBARC range yesterday being Newcastle’s turn to host a NNSW IRB round robin event. The 8 local and 25 visitors who participated faced challenging conditions of cold rainy periods, the typical local range changing winds and on occasions the sun shone through.Considering the weather, some very impressive results were achieved with a total of six scores of 249 and local Kris L. managing the only 250 for the day. Don P. from Taree (246.033) held of Nic W. from Glen Innes (245.038) to take out the Custom event.Local shooters did very well with 4 top 10 finishes overall, Capt. Kurt taking out a 3rd in Custom & 1st in Hunter with Julie M. prevailing in a tight finish in the Ladies to take out 1st place.A big thanks to all the volunteers who helped in making the day a great success. ...
